She leaves him alone and trapped in the internal world he created.

The monster, Boris, must do the thing he most fears, pull down his world, come out of himself, expose his weakness, to release himself from his self imposed prison.

A metaphore of existential abondonment, told through the timeless surreal form of the child's fairy tale, and contrasted with the isolation of adult desperation.
