The Aftermath of APE
I've just returned from APE, the Alternative Press expo, where we had a table selling our toys, prints, and comics, and telling people about our work. At our booth was myself (bradisdrab), and Lucien Shapiro, showing and selling our toys. Erin Ashford (contact), the brilliant photographer who obsessively ties her work together with needle and thread. And the illustrator Chris Conroy (contact), selling his beautifully printed journals, entitled "Unfinished Business", as well as original pen and ink drawings. It was a lot of fun, and we got the chance to meet a ton of really creative and interesting people and let people see what we have been doing for the last couple months.We talked to several people about producing toys. We got to hang out with Jonathan Wayshak and Alex Pardee, both of whom make art that is incredible( if you haven't seen it, you should check it out). We were interviewed for the television show Haight-Free TV. And we met Pinguino who does Flippersmack, an online 'zine, and posted pictures from APE (here.) Thanks a lot to everyone came out and supported us, and to everyone who helped out, it is really appreciated. Now that I'm rested and recovered I am dying to get back to work... brad isdrab
UP will be at APE 2004! APE, the Alternative Press Expo, will be at the Concourse Exhibition Center,on Feb. 21 and 22, 2004. If you don't know, APE includes the very best in independent, self-published and alternative comics, magazines and zines. The Concourse Exhibition Center is located at 620 7th Street in San Francisco, hope to see you there!
Update:010704 -Added more Art 122403 Things have been pretty busy, but as per usual quite productive. The last film i was working on is now compleated, and added to the page, and a page for the annex comic is there too, with much more to come! - Added "Bad Art" to the animation page. - Added annex Comic. 122103 -restructured the menu and added more Art, including the cel paintings.

110603 - Added Art portfolio. 110503 -Added music to the hexat page. 110303 Once more the page has been reorganized, finially doing away with the frames, so it should look correct on everyone's computer, added a couple instalation shots of "DRABBER : combat model", also compressed and added "Sifi" to the animation page. 102003 -Updated the animation page to make room for the coming films, Still working on the sound for "DRABBER : combat model", which will be posted shortly. I have finially decided on a treatment for the titles and credits for "Mills", with that as the final touch the vhs should be ready within the month with the dvd ready by November. Have been working on adding characters to the world for the next UP film project, which is as yet untitled, and completed the first camera tests and am quite pleased with the results, with fingers crossed, am hoping to have it ready for post by January. 101703 -added images to the annex page, and worked out the design model for the next character in annex, soon he will go into 3d and then on to texturing and gameplay. Today we reorganized the work areas to begin working with sound again, working out a soundtrack for our most recently completed film "DRABBER : combat model", It's a fun one. We'll soon be able to dub vhs, so copies of mills are on the way, and we are setting the wheels in motion for HEXAT COMP1, our first compliation album. drabber |

| 101503 Draw the circle tighter People don't get famous on their own. Art doesn't happen in a devoid of influence. This was one of the first ideas behind UP and lately I have been thinking about it more. Remember Andy Warhol's factory, the circle they created. Say what you will of the man's art, the impact of the group is undenyable. As artists we need to remember that we are part of a larger wave, like movements we read of in art historical text. Little waves and larger waves. We influence each other and learn from one annother, and in doing this we draw the circle tighter, create a greater auidence. In this way we, not can but will change the world. Brad |

101403 More icons have been added and the site has been rearranged to be more accessable, some minor adjustments to make space for additional media. The field there is so litle i can remember about my youth. there were places, many of them but of their coming to mind i can not seem to place a good one. there was always some kind of a wilderness, an empty feild that we'd go to to play, not for love of nature but for escape. the city has many such places, we'd run through muddy drainage creeks,and come home brown and smelling like the creature from the black lagoon. there were trees suitable for climbing abandoned tree houses that other children had forgotten about, seemingly years proir. but i was a suburb kid and the wilderness was only a feild and the kids prior could have been gone only minites. scale is so difference when we are young. i am the air-god says josh, having climbed further than anyone else. the wind picks through the branches causing the leaves to flutter and sparkle in so many shades of green. we smell of summer and pool chlorine and run through the feilds knee high weeds, entangling our shoelaces with their seeds. once i found bones there, big thick ones, ones from dinosaurs i was sure, soup bones, soup bones from a dinosaur. it was mowed regularly perhaps to keep the weeds away, and the soil constantly overturned. it was paved over later and turned to a park but it lost it's magic there, the addition of swings and sand did nothing to help the atmosphere. what was there was lost, when i returned. most likely it had been lost in me.

| 92203 "Mills" has entered the last stages of post production with the dvd version under construction. This will enclude extras like making of, behind the scenes, character design and creation, and once we can convince him to do it, a directors commentary. Work is under way for our major project "Boris and Bianca". which we are aiming to have complete by summer 2004. also on the way are some short comics, flyers and assorted junk... rok on, drabber |

32003 We are proud to announce our artists have been gaining exposure. we have involved some of our projects in the SF gallery scene, and have had good response. currently we have two shows in different parts of the city, and have used these expiriences as a means of meeting more artists in a wide range of media. In other news we the third and finial photoshoot for the first deadgirls catalog was shot today, some of the pictures will be available here soon, and the first run of catalog will be available by summer. We have recently recruited a new and tallented animator, who has been a godsend as far as helping to push this and other projects even further. Brad |

We've spent time the last few weeks looking for funding for our first stop motion film for release. The stones have been set in place and the machine is running. the grant proposals are being written and will go out soon. I'd like to personally thank Ellen Supple for all the help she has given. Unfortunately most of our time and resources have gone into that, so the dead girls catalog has had to be pushed back, but it will be out shortly. Brad |
